Because I can.

why do i go to the gym When i don’t want to?  Because I can. Why I am choosing to eat healthier?  Because I can.  Why do i sleep in half the time past 8:30 AM?  Because I can.  (and also because I think my meds make me sleep-hungover in the morning.)  it’s not even like I don’t have motivation.  Because i do.  For a while now, I’ve been hitting the gym in the morning.  Going around 9:30… but.  I’ve recently started a new adventure.

School.  Full time school.  why? Because I can.

ps- I am finally finally finally doing super well with my weight loss.

Gym. Tan. Laundry.

Gym. Tan. Laundry. It’s what all the Jersey Shore peeps do.  For the first time tonight, I GTLed.  I am just wrapping up a month of tanning because it makes my skin brown & it feels Oh so good. I did go away to a sunny place for 10 days in the midst of my tanning… but yeah.

Today wasn’t a great day for eating.  I ate too much.  And– I ate carbs.  Ick.  I did well this morning at lunch time when I ordered a chicken caesar salad.. but the salad came with bread.  i ate it.  Also, I arrived home after a day long day of classes and my mom had a fresh baked loaf of bread on the counter.  I ate two pieces.  I’m not here to tell you what goes into my mouth everyday.  I don’t even know if my blogging has a purpose.  or why you strangers care… but.

Vancouver Sun Run 2013

hey everyone, I’m sorry that I’ve not been posting on here for a couple of days, just… living life off of the  computer a bit.  This afternoon I signed up for my first running race.  Now, at the moment, I would not consider myself a runner.  But this girl used to be.  In grade 10 I would run 3-4 mornings per week.  It was awesome.  The crisp spring air. The smell after rain.  The freshness of it all.

Tomorrow morning i will begin my 13- week training program for the Sun Run which takes place in Vancouver.  It’s only 10 k so that’s not terribly long or too much of a commitment. But it’s a milestone for me.  I spent a lot of money today.  at 10:30 AM I bought a three month gym membership for $112.00  /  I spent twentyone bucks on fruits and veggies at 12pm.   At 3 this afternoon (before my nap)  I payed $46 for the sun run entrance fee and t- shirt.  Finally this evening on the way home from my voice lesson I filled up the tank for $40.  I ate pretty well today.  Healthy.  Low-carb.  K kiddos that’s it for today.  I’ll check back soon! thanks for reading!!! 🙂

Gluten- free pizza crust

The other day on Pinterest I saw a cauliflower based, gluten- free pizza crust.  So last night I was determined to make it!  Super simple and pretty tasty even.  All I did was cube 1/2 cauliflower head and stick it in the food processor until it looked like rice.  Then i sautéed it with a little bit of coconut oil.  After that i mixed 3/4 cup shredded mozza cheese, a beaten egg, and the cauli.  I pressed it onto a greased pizza pan, making the crust about 1 cm thick.

Finally I popped it in the oven for 25 mins on 400 f and viola! pizza crust.  Added the toppings and “broiled” it for 5 minutes.  Super tasty.  I had my good friend Jane over too and she really enjoyed it! (well at least that is what she says!…) We were doing some singing rehearsals.  Fun stuff!! well, have a good day everyone!  ps- went to the gym again this morning!

Losing weight on vacation

Losing weight on vacation is all about avoiding the “extras.”  An extra, for example, would be a 90 calorie fibre one brownie.  It’s something  extra  that is not needed.  There are 2 different kinds of Extras that come to mind.

Little extras.

and Big extras.

Little extras would be using Brianna’s poppyseed dressing instead of a lite italian.  The caloric difference over 100.  Another little extra would be adding 1/6 cup shredded cheese to a salad.  (because dairy is not included in the meal plan)

Big extras is like eating a hamburger, or a side of fries.  Drinking a kids milkshake is smarter than a full size.  But it’s still an extra, something that will hinder ultimate weight loss success.

This past week has been very difficult for me in my weight loss.  I have determined to make the next 4 days (including today) count.  No carbs. pretty much a vegetable and lean protein cleanse.  When i step on the scale next monday morning, I need to be at par with when i left home.  It really matters to me.

Irony

Is it ironic that I just polished off a brownie, before sitting down to write this post??  It’s vacation time here in Palm Springs with the family.  Day 2 and the diet plan is doing pretty well.  My self- control is being pushed to its limits!  Today my physical activity consisted of pool time… treading water.  Yes, you heard me right … My previous record, from six years ago… was 60 minutes of non-stop water treading. Today, I decided to go against my boredom and go for a full ninety-minutes.  I did it.

So i have been hesitating to tell my friends about my latest blog (this one) because i think most people still can’t notice the pounds I’ve lost.  It’s kind of discouraging .. but at least all my girls at work can tell. I think in 20 more pounds… (60 gotten rid of) then i will share the link with two of my close girlfriends.. we’ll see 🙂
